    Our Mission


    The Mission of the Financial Planning Association of San Francisco is to advance the financial planning profession in accordance with the highest ethical standards by providing education, association, and leadership for the Bay Area financial planning community and the public it serves. The FPA of San Francisco champions the value of the financial planning process and advances the financial planning profession with the CFP mark as its cornerstone. FPA of San Francisco seeks to: 

    • Help financial planners demonstrate and support a professional commitment to education and a client-centered financial planning process 
    • Foster competent, committed and ethical members, dedicated to the process of financial planning
    • Provide educational and networking opportunities to assist members in their efforts to increase their skills and experience 
    • Build and retain a growing membership with a shared vision and a commitment to 
    • Help people recognize the value of the financial planning process as a way to achieve their goals and dreams.

    Our Vision


    The primary aim of FPA is to benefit the public by helping to ensure that financial planning is delivered through competent, ethical financial planners. FPA is the community that fosters the value of financial planning and advances the financial planning profession. The FPA aim is achieved through its objectives: 

    • Enable and promote the success of our members through education, practice management, and community 
    • Develop and refine the expertise of and commitment to personal financial planning Grow the organization by bringing together those who champion the financial planning process 
    • Unify the voice, focus and resources of the financial planning community 
    • Advance brand awareness for professional financial planners, building the CFP certification as the hallmark of the brand 
    • Define and effectively communicate a common understanding of the discipline of personal financial planning and the benefits of its use
     

    Code of Ethics


    From its earliest designs, the Financial Planning Association (FPA) included a mandate that members adhere to a Code of Ethics that reflects their commitment to help clients achieve their life goals. All FPA members are asked to commit to this Code, CFP® certificants and non-CFP certificants alike.


    FPA's Ethics Committee is charged by the Board of Directors with reviewing alleged violations to the Code of Ethics and advising staff on ways to enhance awareness by FPA members of their obligations under the Code.
