Dear San Francisco FPA Chapter member:

The San Francisco chapter of the Financial Planning Association (FPA) is working to foster the idea that every financial planner has a professional responsibility to provide pro bono financial planning services to people and/or organizations that are otherwise unable to pay.  To further that goal, your chapter’s Pro Bono and Education Committee has created and compiled a series of resources for you to use in your efforts to satisfy your pro bono service obligations.  These resources include general Guidelines for what the FPA has defined as pro bono service, and a series of Frequently Asked Questions to help you determine how you might best fulfill your pro bono service requirements.

There are two primary ways to begin offering pro bono financial planning services:

The content you’ll find on this website is constantly evolving, and will change over time.  Be sure to check back periodically for additional FPA sponsored projects and additions to the planner resources.

We thank you for your interest in providing pro bono services, and we hope that you find your pro bono work personally rewarding.

Sincerely,

Holly Gillian Kindel, CFP®, CLU®
Chairperson
Pro Bono & Education Committee
