On May 20th, NerdWallet’s Ask an Advisor team presented a workshop on ‘Redefining Online Marketing in Financial Services’. They provided a guide for making the most of the internet to a large group of CalCPA and FPA members in their SoMa offices. They gave their best tips on how we as financial professionals can use the internet and social media to engage prospective clients as a complement to our existing in-person prospecting. They also showed how providing quality content, over quantity, will prove to be more beneficial in helping potential clients find you online, see you as a knowledgeable expert, and ultimately hire you as their advisor.

They will be making a similar presentation for our members and guests at the July 8th FPA SF Chapter meeting along with Kristin Harad’s presentation on branding and social media marketing, so that we too can learn from both of these presenters’ research and expertise, and implement their suggestions into our own practices. In addition to this informative session, NerdWallet’s website offers a platform called Ask an Advisor, where planners can demonstrate their expertise to consumers by publicly responding to their questions, publishing authoritative articles on topics of interest to their target client base, and offering insights and quotes for articles written by NerdWallet’s content team. With over 2 million visitors to their site monthly, their platform can be a great benefit for our members to gain professional exposure.
